Earth is not the only body in our solar system with oceans! Several ocean worlds, those bodies with a current liquid ocean, are present in our solar system. Jupiter’s moons Europa, Ganymede and Callisto all hide subsurface oceans underneath their icy shells. In the Saturn system, Enceladus spouts its subsurface ocean material out into space, and Titan has a subsurface ocean (along with liquid hydrocarbon lakes on its surface). There may be additional ocean worlds in addition to these. What sustains these oceans? How habitable might they be, and could they harbor life?
Meeting will be at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church on 3rd and Terry in downtown Longmont.
